Discover with us Santiago de Compostela the Pilgrimage capital of Galicia. We will start our day by walking over to the museum Pobo Galego (The Galician People). This Ethnographic museum gives the visitor a good insight into the Galician way of life, displaying; Farm tools used in the Galician villages, Fishing boats of all type and the different fishing techniques used with nets, spears, fishing rods etc. We then walk though the ancient streets of Santiago until reaching the open-air market of Plaza Los Abastos to see the daily catch and fresh vegetable that are brought into the market by the villagers who live close by Santiago.
Next off to the Cathedral, where we will see: the silver crypt where St. James´s remains lie, the statute of St. James the Apostle sitting on the high alter. We will exit the cathedral through the 12th century Baroque Portico de la Gloria (Port of Glory). From here we will walk down the front stairs into the centre of Plaza de Obradoiro, once we have reached the middle we will turn around to face the cathedrals with a wide-angle view to understand the immense size of this Baroque façade flanked by two impressive towers. In this same plaza stands the Raxoi Palace, Hostal de los Reyes Catolicos and the College of San Jeronimo.
