North of Barcelona, the coastline begins changing rapidly into an amazing picturesque landscape. This Costa Brava day excursion takes you along the secluded beaches and rugged cliffs, enjoying dramatic rock formations, crystal clear water and secluded coves. From the panoramic cliff-tops down to the water´s edge, there are age-old trail routes that wind from village to village, rewarding you with priceless views of the Spanish and French Mediterranean and quiet coves in which you can swim, snorkel and enjoy the sun.
These day escapes begin on a coastal trailhead in one of  the many charming Costa Brava Mediterranean villages. On these walking routes youll find innumerable links to Catalonia´s rich history: old, winding stone walls, dolmens (old shelters), castle and monastery ruins, olive orchards and intricately terraced mountainsides. Once weve completed the route, well explore one of the coastal villages (Cadaqués, Begur, Calella de Palafrugell, Tamariu, Pals, etc.) and stop into a local restaurant for a great lunch before returning to Barcelona.
