Introduction:

Food Wine and Entertainment tour of Old Madrid During our evening together, we will make three eating stops to introduce you to the five main food and wine pairings of Spain.

The first stop will be at a historical tavern where we will step back in time to taste an ancient pairing: Manchego cheese with Valdepeñas wine.

Valdepeñas wine, over the centuries, enjoyed a popularity unrivaled by other Spanish wines.

Manchego Cheese, made of sheep´s milk, is the most popular cheese in Spain.

Food Wine and Entertainment tour of Old MadridThe Second Eating stop, the first wine bar in Old Madrid. Wine Bar Twenty years ago they knew they were going to be the first to open a wine bar in the old part of the city What they didn´t know is that they were starting a trend that has completely taken this neighborhood.

Pairing: Manzanilla San Leon with different types of cured iberico ham

Manzanilla is one of the most interesting wine of Spain because of the unique aging process used in its production.

Cured Iberico ham
comes from a special breed of pig that is raised on a diet of acorns, which gives the meat a special flavor. We will also taste what our clients are referring to as the best olive oil-fried calamaris ever.

Andalucia, in southern Spain, is the home of these traditional food and wine combinations.

The Third Eating stop, a restaurant situated in a XVII century aristocratic mansion. Spanish Paella Hidden among palaces deep in Old Madrid, this 400 year-old mansion, run by a delicatessen distribution company, is a shrine for the Spanish cuisine lover.

Its terrace and private rooms provide an exquisite ambience for the feast that follows:

Canal & Nubiola (Spanish champagne) and paella. Cava, also known as Spanish Champagne, is a huge wine industry success.

Over 100 million bottles are exported every year. Canals NubiolaFood Wine and Entertainment tour of Old Madrid is a classic of herbal, apple and hazelnut scents.

This Paella is made from scratch, not the microwaveable kind found in most restaurants.

This beautiful picture was taken at the terrace of the second eating stop, the one we use for our summer tasting events.

Pintia 01 (red wine) with carne a la piedra. The red wine industry in Spain is extremely competitive. Out of the thousands of wines produced, we will bring to you the winners. Expect wines in the 40 euro region -- served in professional Riedel glasses.

Food Wine and Entertainment tour of Old MadridCarne a la Piedra is fresh, raw beef cooked -- by you -- atop scorching hot bricks which will be brought to your table. You will be able to eat the freshest meat cooked to your standards without losing the natural juices during the pan-to-plate journey. Delicious!!

Don PX 1975 (sweet wine) with bonbon figs. PX is the king of the Spanish sweet wines.
This Sherry wine boasts an untamed complexity developed by a 27-year aging period in American oak barrels. It has notes of raisins, dried plums, coffee, chocolate, brown sugar and dates.

Food Wine and Entertainment tour of Old MadridFig bonbons are figs with a chocolate and liquor filling and a dark chocolate cover. A low-fat, healthy bonbon.

Southern Spain is the home of this traditional food and wine combination.
