Introduction:
Eastern Algarve Roman History Tour
The Romans showed in the whole for a deep transformation of living. In this circuit we will see: The famous existent Roman tiles in the Museum of Faro. Tavira has Roman tracks where we'll visit the XI century castle, the Church of Santa Maria and the old quarter. Cerro da Vila was one of the chosen areas for Romans settlement, due to the privileged location in the margins of a lagoon with easy connection to the sea, which allowed sheltering the ships in the continuation of the different stages of their commercial routes. The Romans give a new pulse to the economics activities developing the salt fish industry, the agriculture and the mine exploration of the copper and iron.
