road towards Estoril´s Casino and its illuminated gardens. At the Casino, you'll

About the Show "Dança com Letras":
Dança
com Letras was inspired on the alphabet from A to Z, and will be the new
show in Salão Preto e Prata at Casino Estoril. The opening will be the first
days of September. Its author is Júlio César along with musical direction by
Pedro Osório.
 Dança com Letras is a show full of dynamism and color, which
presents a sequence of pictures with different aesthetic tendencies and themes.
For more than an hour, 26 visually attractive themes go through. A letter at
random is picked-up resulting on a word, which will be developed
choreographically telling little stories in each acting, says Júlio César.
Dança com Letras lives because of dancing, gathering series of
successive pictures that unite the words in order to be danced. It is a show
that motivates me and flips me out, says Júlio César, whose career as an author
for the Casino Estoril counts almost two decades. Dança com Letras is
accessible to a heterogenic public, and proposes to disclose the alphabet from
A to Z. From this point on, some topics will emerge like A from Amor
(Love) or Africa, B of Buffalo,
C of Crocodile or Cabeza (Head). A strong African component is present since
the beginning, but it will be attenuated along the play. In the E are present
the extraterrestrial being that have to learn how to sing Fado for the following
letter F.
 Structurally, Dança com Letras goes from the H of Humor, to the G
of Giraffe, to I of illumination or Internet. The diversity goes on with the
M of Mar (Sea) or ´s of Samba, N of Neptune, or R of Rome, or V of
Valsa, or J of Jogo (Game), or K of Kitch. Meanwhile, a Zorro (fox) will
take an X to impose a Z of Zebra says Julio César. The set design of
Dança com Letras is very appellative and it assents on the letters from A to
Z, which are made of wood and iron. It obeys to a dynamic concept. The
different environments and the deliberated use of light, match with the
diversity of pictures on the stage. Everything that moves, that is to say, the
dancers and the choreography are inserted into games of light. With a fixed
background, the light moves around the stage. The letters displace, turning on
and off. The pyrotechnic of Dança com Letras constitutes one of its main
attractions, which offers singular effects like; a cascade of light, explosions
in a big rock concert, smoke and mist. The originality marks some moments like
the one when a spaceship passes by on the stage sky carrying away the aliens,
landing on
out of the stage. The light assumes the major roll on the performers once it
fall on the cloth that according to Júlio Cesar, it is enchanted and
contrasting, keeping a chromatic evolution, and gives very interested solutions.
The wardrobe evolves along the performance - the colors dance, emphasizing on
white and gray, which receive the light better.
 In Dança com Letras are thirteen pictures where 26 topics are dressed
on, providing a singular enrichment. Two topics are presented in the same
picture that permits a great freedom of creativity to the costume designer,
Danielo. The choreography concerns not only with dancing and body movement, but
also with the expression of the scene, which has a strong theatrical component
as making part of the performance. The music by Pedro Osório is original and
extremely suggestive because of the variety of topics that it implies. In fact,
the diversity of pictures proposed facilitates the creativity of Pedro Osório,
who assumes a commitment, embracing the contemporary music and the traditional
one. It goes from Rock to Tango, from Valsa to Samba, from the African rithems
to Can-Can. The singer Rita Guerra, the mezzo-soprano Patrycja Gabrel, and the
violinist Mónica Kurutz, constitute the musical support and the live vocal of
Dança com Letras. They remain discretely at the end of the stage. Pedro Osório
is the musical director of Dança com Letras along with choreography by Juan
Carlos Manrique. The costume design is by Daniello and lighting is by Andrew
Gardner, along with scenography by António Casimiro. José Montes coordinated the
ballet.
