A Tasty Basque Cooking Short-Break for Gastronomes!

Day by Day Itinerary:
4 Days / 3 Nights

DAY 1:
SAN SEBASTIAN

- Arrival in San Sebastian. Called Donostia in Basque language, is the capital of Gipuzkoa province, and it extends like a string of pearls around the Bay of Biscay.
- Check-in at “Hotel de Londres y de Inglaterra”, an elegant 19th Century four star hotel in front of La Concha beach. Enjoy see views from your hotel room.
- Free time to walk along the beach and the Old Quarter (“Casco Viejo”).
- For dinner, guided Tapas Tour: try some of the sophisticated pintxos (Tapas in Basque) for which San Sebastian is famous. Tapas are not just a casual way of eating but also and above all, a question of having a good time, the opportunity of meeting other people and, at the same time, to indulge yourself with good food and wine.
- Overnight in San Sebastian.

DAY 2:
SAN SEBASTIAN
- Breakfast
-
Morning Cooking Lesson at a "Sociedad Gastronomica" (Gastronomic Society) located in the old centre of this elegant city. Some of these Societies are still men-only cooking clubs (although not this one, fortunately!) where Basques share their good humor, songs and kitchen wisdom, as they have done for centuries.
- In the company of one of the members of the Society, learn about the famous cuisine of the Basque Country, considered one of the most renowned gastronomic regions in Europe.
- Lunch will follow based on the prepared recipes accompanied by wine.
- Evening free for visiting San Sebastian, a sophisticated city of great beauty with a cultural, social and gastronomic importance far in excess of its size. The undeniable glamour of the city has it charmed by the local color of its small fishing port.
- Dinner free: San Sebastian is the European city with the highest per capita rate of Michelin starred restaurants. A good opportunity for visiting some of the most famous restaurants in Spain!
- Overnight in San Sebastian.

DAY 3:
SAN SEBASTIAN - BILBAO - SAN SEBASTIAN
- Breakfast
-
Transfer to Bilbao in a private car with chauffer. Bilbao is the economic centre of the Basque country and home of the spectacular Guggenheim Bilbao Museum.
- Do some exploration on your own along the narrow streets of Bilbao Old Town or Casco Viejo, which give off an age-old atmosphere, or visit the biggest food market in Europe.
- Visit the stunning Guggenheim Museum, “the building of the century”.
- You will enjoy lunch at the Museum restaurant, directed by one of the most brilliant young chefs in Spain who has trained with 3 Michelin starred chef Martin Berasategui. The cuisine is modern but deeply rooted in Basque traditional cooking and pays special attention to the quality of the ingredients. Not to mention its unique and avant-garde setting, designed by Frank Ghery.
Back to San Sebastian, evening free.
- Dinner at leisure: try one of the many traditional restaurants whose cooking revolves around exquisite fish and seafood (especially hake, salt-cod, spider crab and baby eels).
Night in San Sebastian.
B, L

DAY 4:
SAN SEBASTIAN
- Breakfast
- Make your own departure arrangements to take your flight back home or continue your trip in Spain.
