 Since its inauguration in 1997, the Guggenheim and the dog Puppy - a floral sculpture by Jeff Koons beside the museum- have become the most international symbol of Bilbao. Leading art-lovers of the world have lent objects of art to the Museum on a temporary basis, such as Giorgio Armani, David Salle, Chillida, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons and Robert Rauschenberg. The museum also offers a series of activities for visitors wishing to broaden their artistic horizons. It houses its own private collection, in addition to sharing with New York and Venice the world´s largest and most impressive private collection of modern and contemporary art.
