Starting our evening excursion we will visit the Castle of Soutomaior which dates from the XIII century. At dusk we will walk leisurely through the gardens of the castle and from the castle tower we will look upon the valley of the river Verduga, an incomparable experience with privileged view of this sub-zone of the D.O. Rías Baixas where the plantations of vines prevail. Then we will leave for dinner in a tavern located in a small mountain village nearby. Entering the tavern your will precept something special. Musical tradition breathes in every corner. Pereira has converted his local tavern, the "Heicho de dar Queridiña" into an authentic museum, with full homage to the music. For dinner we will try various tapas like; cured meats, sautéed eggs with mushrooms, also chorizo al vino... for dessert, tetilla cheese with membrillo jelly and crepes with honey. Since we are in a sub-zone of the D.O. Rias Baixas we will try the local Soutomaior Albariño "Val do Castelo" (Valley of the Castle) with our dinner. Accompanying our dessert we try Galician Aguardiente liqueurs. After dinner we will go downstairs to what originally was the wine cellar of this manor. Now our host Pereira will treat us by playing his Gaita (Galician Bagpipe). Many of our past guests have been of Irish and Scottish descendants and have heard the Bagpipes many times before, but they couldn't believe that there are also bagpipes in Spain! It doesn't take long for the atmosphere to heat up in this tavern. Other locals usually join in with their gaitas and drums. Song after song, you won't be able to resist to sing and dance, or even play an instrument. The magic of the music will unite us all together in Celtic good times!
