Introduction:
Discovering Sherry in Jerez de la Frontera from Seville
Jerez de la Frontera became famous throughout the world for its sweet wines named after the town, which the British pronounced "sherry". It is called "de la Frontera" because it once stood on the frontier between the Moorish and the Christian realms. Jerez is also famous, throughout the world, for its fine horses and brilliant singers and dancers of flamenco.

The distinctive wine in Jerez has been exported for centuries, it was even praised by Shakespeare. It is distinctive because the strong sun gives the grapes a high sugar content. British merchants have been involved in the wine trade here for centuries, producing and shipping a fortified wine known as sherry.

Day by Day Itinerary:
Full-Day (Duration: 08h00 approx.)

DAY 1:
SEVILLA - JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA - SEVILLA
- 09:00-09:30AM approx.: Meet your Private English-Speaking Driver/Guide in the lobby of your hotel.
- Departure from Seville
- Drive to Jerez de la Frontera , which is about 85 kilometres (53 miles) from Seville and is a beautiful town steeped in history.
- Prior to reaching the town we will be stopping to visit the vineyards of one of the bodegas (wineries). An expert will explain all the factors affecting grape production and quality, and will show us around the vines and vineyard installations. These installations are nearly always perched on top of a hill and afford panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
- Following this we will proceed to the bodega where we will be taken around what are spectacular buildings with their rows and rows of sherry butts stacked one on top of the other. These buildings are often compared to cathedrals and it is certainly true that they give the impression of being sanctified places.
- After a detailed tour including a complete explanation of the sherry-making process, there will be a tutored tasting of the different styles of wine which includes high end wines not normally tasted. The tasting will be carried out by an expert.
- After the bodega visit, we will be going to one of the best restaurants in Jerez to enjoy a meal consisting of excellent local dishes accompanied by fine sherry wines.
- After this tour we hope that you will agree with most of the world´s top wine critics who believe that sherry is the most underrated fine wine in the world.
- 05:00-05:30PM approx.: Return to Seville and drop off back at your hotel
